The English Project - Researching, scripting and performing a One Act Play
The English Project chosen for the year was to write, produce and perform a One Act play. The students worked hard to understand the different elements of Drama, as they brainstormed what they would like to present to the rest of their school. It was tough deciding on any one theme. Lots of disagreements, debates and arguments later the teams settled on their themes and went about scripting their play.
They had to bear in mind characterisation, their message to their peer group as well as be creative in connecting with their audience.
Being online had its own limitations and challenges. The students did their best to meet online after school.
Till the very end they were not able to find time to practice physically as coordination was difficult.
But the final day, everyone's commitment and dedication towards their team bore fruits. It was interesting to watch the shy and reticent students speak confidently and impress the audience.
A very engaging and enriching experience for all. The highest attribute of the Bloom's Taxonomy was hence achieved through collaborative means.
This project was highly beneficial to us as we were able to learn new ways to present ourselves on a stage. We learnt script writing and we tried co-ordinating with eachother. This project was really fun and educational.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great learning that I got to experience while writing and performing the play. It was not easy to gather everyone at the same time and make the play a successfull one. Also due to the very less stipulated time, I think we were not able to give in our fullest. But we definately got to learn a lot. I am very thankful to everyone who helped in this assignment.
ReplyDeleteSome very true lines said by Ms.Kundu. I , being part of one of the teams can totally relate with everything you have said . Indeed it was a challenge in taking time out to practice . All of us had to practice online through google meet . There were several areas where we needed to improve and all of the students worked hard in trying to make the play as successful as possible . It was a new experience for most of us . A one of a kind experience for the first time after lockdown . I learnt about values like team work , team effort , expressing one's thoughts and much more. Surely , many of us couldn't do our best , but we also got to learn about speech and expression delivery and voice modulation . I would surely like to do it again in the future ! Thank you !

DeleteThe topics that were chosen by the teams were both relevant in today's date and were plays that gave a good message for the society and students.
ReplyDeleteA drama has many aspects to be taken into mind before presented in front of an audience. Voice modulations, dialogue delivery, character and relationships, mood and atmosphere, etc. Taking all these aspects in mind, our team had made the play to make it a play that would connect with the audience.
As it was rightly said by Mrs. Anamika kundu, there were a lot of disagreements in the process of making this play but with communication these disputes were settled and we went about scripting the play.
This project was highly beneficial to us. The teams had to select different topics. But we definately got to learn a lot. I am very thankful to everyone who helped in this assignment. I felt very confident after the play

The play made us understand some of the basic yet important morals of life such as teamwork, time management, etc. not only that but those such as myself who are hesitant on the stage got an opportunity to overcome stage fright.
